Right, so. Some fans are claiming that the as of yet still unannounced The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered‘s release date has just been given out to them when they’ve DMed Xbox’s official support account and, well, politely asked for info about the game.
Yeah, I dunno either. I didn’t things could get much weirder with the game that seems set for an imminent release, but still hasn’t been officially acknowledged by Bethesda despite a leak, and very much looks to be coming out the same year as a fan-made Oblivion remaster that’s been in the works for ages. But hey, at least it’s in-keeping with the theme, Oblivion being a weird ass game and all (in the best way).
A Twitter user with the handle @Ser_Raven18 claims to have messaged the official Xbox Support account asking some questions about whether the game will be playable via cloud, and boom, was allegedly told by the account that the remaster will be releasing on April 21, 2025. That’s next Monday, so would appear to line up with the week outlined in recent reports.
Naturally, we at VG247 have messaged the account ourselves to see if we can re-create the back and forth outlined in the videos and screenshots the Twitter user has provided as apparent proof. As of writing, we’ve not had a response to our DM, but the initial message the account automatically sends you when you go to send it a message reads as follows:
“Hi there! I’m the @XboxSupport virtual agent. So we can make sure you get the help you need and to get you where you need to go, select one of these options.” The account doesn’t seem to have outlined what those options are, but regardless, it looks clear we’re dealing with some kind of automated bot, rather than a real person. Though the virtual agent may well have behind-the-scenes oversight from an actual human being, who can step in if needs be.
We’ve also reached out to both Xbox and Bethesda for comment.
