So, Helldivers 2 players have been asking Arrowhead to spice things up a bit in the Galactic War for a little bit now, in spite of the whole ongoing planet-eating wormhole problem.

Well, the game’s latest major order looks to have at least given them something to excitedly panic about for a little bit, but things have quickly settled back down into folks fighting the Illuminate in Terminid space and wondering why they’re not being plunged to massive multi-faction battles.

There’s just been a two-pronged offensive from the squids, with Fenrir III and Pilen V being targeted, since the former houses a “Center of Science” and the latter the “Repulsive Gravity Field Generator” that’ll be key to the divers efforts to halt the aforementioned wormhole – or the Meridian Singularity, as it prefers to go by.

“This attack proves the rightness of our efforts, and the desperation of the Illuminate, to finally strike so close to the Federation rather than sparsely-populated colonies,” Arrowhead wrote in its latest MO briefing. It’s fair to say the proximity of the attack on Pilen V to the Helldivers’ home planet of Super Earth got players a bit hot under the collar, with Reddit posts declaring stuff like ‘UHHMMM GUYS….???‘ and wondering if the squids would attack their beloved home base.

That’s not come to pass, though, with Pilen V now back under Super Earth control and the Illuminate pushed back towards the sector around Fenrir III, where players are grinding away trying to kill 1.25 billion Voteless – the Super Earth citizens turned into mindless zombies by the Illuminate. If they can do that, and fend off four more planet attacks, Arrowhead’s suggested the divers might get the tech required to stop as many of these poor citizens being turned into hostile cannon fodder.

That said, while they get on with the slaughter, the fact the Illuminate-occupied sector is in the midst of Termind-controlled space has re-ignited calls for Arrowhead to add in multi-faction battles that would see players fighting both factions on the same planets. Sadly, it seems like that exact kind of fight isn’t among the stuff dataminers claim the devs appear to be testing or preparing for, but an “Illuminate Invasion of Super Earth” apparently looks like it could be in the works.

Are you planning to dive into the gloom this weekend to try and stop that wormhole? Let us know below!
