Ghost of Yotei has finally made a fresh appearance courtesy of a new trailer, filled with lovely cutscenes and a tiny touch of gameplay. It’s also confirmed when the game is set to launch – October 2, on the PS5.

This trailer, which you can watch below, introduces us to six antagonists we’ll have to hunt down, alongside some background on why our playable protagonist isn’t too fond of them. They’re responsible for killing Atsu’s whole family and stabbing her in the chest a few times, so you’ll be riding horses across Japan and hunting these baddies down in a thrilling tale of revenge and bloody retribution.

This news comes shortly following the game’s rating in Taiwan, itself an indicator of incoming news. Now we have a release date, it’s safe to say we should expect more concrete updates and tantalizing updates surrounding the game in the coming months, especially as we get close to October.

As of writing, there’s no news on when Ghost of Yotei will make its way to PC, though AAA Sony titles have been flocking over to that platform following a period of exclusivity on the PlayStation. Take The Last of Us 2, which stole hearts and minds on the console before hopping over to personal computers soon after, to give players there a taste of brutal revenge.

Ghost of Yotei, like its predecessor, looks visually stunning and quite visceral in its action. It even has a wolf chomp at some guy, which hey, is certainly one way of getting my attention!
