While players are still hoping for a big content update soon, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has been busy making some tweaks to the game as the Meridian death ball situation in the Galactic War has reached what could be its conclusion.
Unfortunately, that tweaking has had the side effect of making HD2 a bit more taxing on hardware, with some PC players on especially old rigs even having been rendered pretty much unable to play the game. The good news is that it sounds like getting things back to running as smoothly as possible is high on the studio’s agenda.
Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani made another of his regular appearances on the game’s Discord server over the weekend, and made sure to let folks know he and the devs are aware of the technical troubles that some divers have been running into and in some instances writing lengthy posts outlining their frustration.
“While I’m here,” he wrote, “regarding performance: we are 100% aware performance ain’t great now. We’re tracking closely and have numerous things in motion. We’ll be sharing details on what we’ll do in the not too distant future. We appreciate the patience until we get back to our usual performance.”
“The more we add in terms of content the tougher performance becomes, we then have to do a bit of housekeeping,” he added in a separate comment, “Hopefully in the future we’ll be able to add content that has less impact.”
So, there you go. The exec also seemingly promised that the PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle from HD2’s Killzone crossover last year will be back in the SuperStore soon, and cheekily teased that the “DSS has barely scratched its potential”.
We didn’t get any more info as to what the space station’s full potential might look like, aside from Jorjani responding to a player sarkily asking if it’s getting a “Super Orbital Laser” by declaring that this would be called a “Liberation Laser” because Super Earth lingo.
