Helldivers 2‘s cowboy-themed Warbond, Borderline Justice, has just arrived in-game, meaning you can put on your spurs and get ready to ride out to kill some bugs or bots. However, its armours don’t boast one key bit of cowboy kit – a stetson. Thankfully, a modder has stepped up on that front for folks on PC.
If you’re out of the loop, this Warbond having an emote that lets your helldiver tip their hat like a bonafide buckaroo, but not actually giving folks a hat to tip has provoked a bit of ire from players, who don’t want to accept Arrowhead’s lore reason for the lack of brimmed bonce-toppers. That reason is basically that cowboy hats are against Super Earth’s strict uniform code.
If you’d like to flaunt those rules, though, modder Doomdiverr’s freshly-released ‘Hd2 Cow boys helmets‘ looks like it’s the only cowboy hat mod that can help you right now. It certainly seems to be the only one available via Nexus Mods as of writing.
It does come with the catch that you’ll need to be comfortable wearing one of the game’s older helmets, rather than the ones that have dropped with Borderline Justice, as the mod adds stetsons to the helmet of the game’s base B-01 armour – the one you spawn with right our of Helldiver training.
It looks like there are four different options colour-wise though, with the option to rock a brown or black hat, as well as possibly painting a skull where your face should be, for some estra bandito flavour. They look to go pretty well with either the Borderline Justice sets or the Democracy’s Deputy armour that’s just been added to the Super Store.
I’m not sure you’ll be able to tip your modded stetson without some clipping, but hey, we can’t have everything, right?
