You will finally get a chance to play Hollow Knight Silksong in 2025, but it might require spending a G’Day in a place you may not expect

Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to do things none of us would have predicted ahead of its release at some point this year. To be fair, at least it’s consitent in its skonging strangeness. The latest twist in the tale? We’ve suddenly learned that you’ll be able to play the game at an Australian museum in September.

Yep. As we all expected from this game that we finally got acknowledgement of being set to come out in 2025 just last month. At least this time we’re not having to gauge whether it’s worth putting any stock in comments on a cake recipe.

IGN reports that the still concrete release date-less Sliksong will be playable at Australia’s national museum of screen culture – AMCI – in September this year.

Yep, a Melbourne museum, which isn’t as out of left field as you might first think when you consider that Team Cherry itself is based in Adelaide.

You’ll be able to play Skong at AMCI from September 18, as part of an exhibition called Game Worlds. “From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game’s artistic direction and design,” museum co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell told IGN, “We’re so grateful to Team Cherry for trusting us with their work, and so excited to share that work with you!”

What does this mean for release date-wise? We’ve got no idea, but if we had to guess, it’d seem weird to have the game be playable – seemingly by anyone – at art gallery before it’s even out. So, a summer release might be on the cards. Hot Skong summer, anyone?
