Monster Hunter Wilds finally gets a mod that lets you ride around on a Thomas the Tank Engine Seikret, so all we need now is Macho Man Arkveld

Yep, it’s happened. Monster Hunter Wilds finally has its first Thomas the Tank Engine mod, and it’s arrived just before the game turns a month old. Rather than turning a monster battle into a surreal train fight, it makes sure you’ll be able to choo-choo your way through the game, by swapping Sir Topham Hat’s best loco in for your trusty Seikret.

To be fair, you’ve already got something terrifying to battle thanks to mods, since Natarkveld – a freaky combination of Nata and Arkveld- exists. And making the player character a train would have mucked up your chances at getting your Thomas fix as anthropomorphic Arkveld.

So, Seikret swap it is, and that’s exactly what modder GrizzlyAdams77’s very literally named ‘Thomas the Tank Engine Seikret’ does. It replaces the starter Seikret model and starter seikret armour with everyone’s favourite train, so he can accompany you where you ride, offering you visual encouragement to kill big beasties.

As you can see in the video below, you’re gonna be watching a lot of Thomas pulling a sick wheelie and aggressively wiggling his, er, coupling end as he gallops across the plains underneath your character and their companions. Alma seems pretty chill about suddenly having to commute by train.

While it’s maybe take a bit longer for Wilds to get its first Thomas mod than, say, a Bethesda game might have, there’s still a rich tradition of adding the train to MonHun games – as with most stuff that hits PC and doesn’t make modding close to impossible. Modder UberGrainy has been behind most of them, having swapped in Thomas for MH: Rise’s Palamutes and MH: World’s big bad dragon Nergigante to create two very funny things.

So far, they’ve seemingly yet to put out a Thomas mod for Wilds, so if you’re dreaming of fighting something like a steam train Arkveld, there still very much looks to be a chance that can happen. After all, we all know Thomas is a baddie at heart, one who’s desperate to take out all of his anger at a certain top-hatted guy on you.

In the interim, if you and your trusty steed Thomas need a bit of help with anything in Wilds, you can check out the array of helpful guides and tips we’ve got.
