“They are coming” Helldivers 2 players reckon their latest mission is the “epilogue” to this act of the Galactic War, and they’re ready for another big twist

We know Helldivers 2‘s due for some fresh content soon, and some players think their latest mission is a pretty obvious countdown to a new phase of the Galactic War kicking off with a bang.

It makes sense – the Meridian Singularity finally being stopped in its tracks and the big Illuminate retreat it signaled certainly had all the hallmarks of a climax to this lastest cycle of the war. So, ahead of the next Warbond being revealed later this week, they’re keeping their supplies stocked in case Arrowhead scrambles the jets.

So, what is this order that folks reckon is the “epilogue” to the latest act in the game’s never-ending mashing together of space baddies? Well, it’s a bit more of a create-your-own-adventure than a lot of orders – which push the player base towards fighting on certain planets or towards certain goals.

This time, Super Earth just has to liberate more planets than it loses during the order’s duration, with the two good old foes of the war having been mobilised as the opposition. There’s the Jet Brigade on the Automaton side, while the bugs have whipped out their predator strain variants.

“These offensives cast a tyrannical pall over the joy of our citizenry in the wake of our victory over the Illuminate,” Arrowhead wrote in its MO briefing, “The citizens of the Federation deserve to celebrate the eradication of our enemies free from the thought of violence.”

Depending on whether you view your galaxy’s liberty meter as half-full or half-empty, it’s either a bit of a filler MO or something cool to do while you wait for the next big thing to drop – something those in the latter camp reckon might happen midway through what they see as the “epilogue” to this phase of the war.

“This exact type of MO always appears after major events signaling the end of an arc,” user 231923 argued in a thread on the subject, “It appeared after the Reclamation ended and the Bots took a foothold after taking Cyberstan. It appeared after we destroyed Meridia and it appeared after we built the DSS. This MO marks the end of the Illuminate invasion arc.”

“I’d expect another LIBCON ONE announcement in the middle of this MO,” wrote another player, and they weren’t the only one to suggest that this order might not even run its entire week-long duration.

We’ll just have to see whether it does, but Super Earth’s forces are definitely ready for a fresh challenge – be it a big return of the Illuminate, or something totally different coming out of the woodwork.
