Street Fighter 6 is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s been revealed today during the Nintnedo Switch 2 direct. The game, developed by Capcom, is set to make its mark on the new console alongisde all the currently released DLC characters.
In addition, the Switch 2 version will have new modes exclusive to the Switch 2 version, which appear to use the new console’s joycon tech in matches. There will be two version of the game, a standard version with the launch roster, as well as a “years 1-2 fighters edition” that will add two whole seasons of DLC characters to make up the 26 fighter roster.
Capcom is also releasing three amiibo figures for the Switch 2 of Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly. Amiibo cards for other characters will also be released at the same time. All of this is set to release on the same day as the Nintendo Switch 2: June 5.
Street Fighter 6 has proven especially popular among fighting game players, due to a combination of casual game modes as well as intricate high level mechanics that have helped keep things fresh. As it stands, fans are waiting for the reveal of its next DLC character Elena, a fan favourite from Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, to land some time this Summer alongside the season 3 update.
The original Nintendo Switch hasn’t exactly cemented itself as a home for fighting game play, at least among the genre’s hardcore community. However, casual fans have enjoyed mashing away with these types of games on the Switch for a while. Now the Switch 2 is coming, with a lot more power under the hood and Street Fighter 6 coming in good time, maybe that’ll change somewhat? Either way, it’s some great news for both the new console and Street Fighter 6 fans.
